Professor A.C. Grayling is Master of the New College of the Humanities, London. He believes that philosophy should take an active, useful role in society. He has written and edited over 30 books on philosophy and other subjects, including biographies of René Descartes and William Hazlitt; among his most recent are Democracy and its CrisisThe Age of Genius, The Challenge of Things, The Good Book, Ideas That Matter, Liberty in the Age of Terror and To Set Prometheus Free.

A prominent Humanist and with a life time's worth of experience, Professor Grayling combines his extensive studies, learnings and experience together to encourage people to think differently and better about the world we live in.
